National Garden Clubs, Inc. honors Alice Ferguson Foundation with 2009 Award of Excellence
Alice Ferguson Foundation (AFF) has been honored with the national 'Award of Excellence' from National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC). This award - the highest honor given by NGC - recognizes
the Foundation's efforts to provide ongoing community education for the protection and conservation of local natural resources, farming, and cultural heritage of the Potomac River Watershed.
AFF Deputy Director, Libby Campbell accepted the award on behalf of the Foundation at the 2009 NGC annual convention in Houston. The event was attended by over 700 members from across the continent. In thanking NGC for its recognition of the Foundation, she noted:
"As the Foundation moves through its second half century of fostering environmental stewardship, we are thrilled that the rest of the world is finally catching up. Being 'green' is no longer a small voice in the wilderness, and we welcome all of those who are discovering for the first time what all gardeners have always known, the joy of finding your own personal connection to nature."
